His Bruise Says, "Do Not Push"

While he was in the bathroom she took the opportunity to put away her book and dictionary. They were ratty and dirty, and even though they were her favorite things she owned, she wasn't sure she wanted him to see them. They weren't nearly as beautiful as the books he owned. He came out of the bathroom and she could tell he was still tired. The bruise on his side had formed to its entirety, and she winced a little at its size. He walked back to the bed and plopped onto it, closing his eyes and sighing. "You should go back to bed," Penny said. "I'm sorry I woke you up last night." She looked down at her hands awkwardly.
