Baby, You're a Firework

The moment she felt his lips touch hers, something changed. The scene up to this point had been been lighthearted and humorous, but at that moment something sparked. He'd felt it to, she was sure, but it was over before it even began, and although she missed the contact she silently thanked Neila for arriving when she did. She also silently cursed her. That was the second blow to the side he had taken today, and she hoped he was okay.

She scooped up the blankets, blushing and trying hard not to make too much eye contact. She couldn't get the thought of that intense spark out of her head, and it scared her a little. How is it possible for such strong feelings to even exist? They deposited the blankets and mattress in what she was beginning to think of as their room, and headed off to the kitchen. She trailed him slightly, wanting to take his hand, but afraid to at the same time.
