Her apologies broke his paralysis. He struggled to keep from scaring Penny but ordered Neila out in a terse voice and kicked the door shut behind her. He sat Penny down in the large chair next to the door, apologizing. "I'm sorry, I didn't want you to find out like this. This isn't your fault, I'm not mad or anything." He shook his head and slung a shirt on, plopping a towel on his wet hair. "Are you okay? I feel so bad now," he said as he placed his hand lightly on hers.
