Candy From Strangers Isn't So Bad After All

He saw her gaze dart from the car to him, and he thought she was going to make a run for it. But she just looked up at him with those sad green eyes of hers, unsure as what to do. He felt an overwhelming need to once again just protect her from the world, but he tucked it away, saving it for a day when she could understand. He took her hand loosely, so she could pull away at any time, and stroked it with his thumb reassuringly. Such a frail flower, she was. He led her to the car and smiled at her tenderly. "Go on, don't be alarmed. It's all going to be okay, I promise."
