All Better Now?

"Oh, my flower," he whispered. He hoped he didn't cross any boundaries when he picked Penny up and set her in his lap, cradling her to his chest and kissing the top of her head. "I have needed you from the first moment I saw you, and I'll need you forever more." While he was wasn't sure what to do with tears, he knew it was a sign she was letting him in. They sat there for a bit until he felt her growing uncomfortable.

In a move he made seem natural, or so he hoped, he stood and placed her on her feet, cursing her lightness. It was unacceptable how much she weighed. He smiled at her, taking her hand in his. "Would you like a tour of the house? It's big, but homey. It's home." He stressed the last word and gave her hand a little squeeze.
